Hundreds of surf lifesavers from clubs across the UK will descend on Newquay this weekend for the Open National Surf Championships at Fistral Beach.
The event, organised by Surf Life Saving GB, will see 260 competitors take part in various events aimed at showcasing their lifesaving skills.
Spectators can watch the competitions unfold at Fistral throughout the weekend, with events ranging from beach relays to water-based rescues. The championships provide a unique opportunity to witness the skill and dedication of the UK’s top surf lifesavers. Surf Life Saving GB is a search and rescue charity with over 10,000 members. The organisation, which has been training lifesavers for 70 years, aims to prevent drowning and save lives by providing top-tier lifeguard training.
