A woman has been fined after being caught littering and allowing her dog to foul in Newquay.
In November, CCTV operators saw the woman throw what appeared to be a dog poo bag through a fence towards the railway line. A short time later, her dog fouled, and she failed to pick up after it.
The footage was shared with Cornwall Council’s Enforcement team, who made further inquiries and later identified the woman. She admitted the offences.
She received a £225 fixed penalty notice for littering and a £100 fixed penalty notice for allowing her dog to foul. Both penalties have now been paid in full.
Councillor Martyn Alvey, portfolio holder responsible for enforcement at Cornwall Council, said:
“If you want to have a dog, it’s your responsibility to pick up its mess and dispose of it appropriately.
“Leaving dog mess behind is not only unsightly for everyone else, but it’s also unhygienic.
“We take these offences seriously, and when we do have evidence and can identify the person responsible, we will take action.”
