Visitors have been banned from attending an address in Newquay described by police as a “hive of antisocial behaviour.”
A three-month partial closure order has been granted, making it an offence for anyone other than the named tenant to enter the property.
The order follows reports to police of shouting, loud noise, suspected drug use, and littering outside the address. There were also reports of gatherings spilling into the street, with people drinking outside the property.
Police Sergeant Simon Andrews, who led the application for the order, said:
“I hope this sends a clear message that antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated and that we are taking action in response to what people are reporting to us.
“This constant behaviour was causing real harm to the wellbeing of the community, so it was important we took action.
“We will continue to work closely in the area alongside the tenant and local residents to deter future offences.
“Thank you to everyone who came forward to report to us – your information was vital in our investigation.”
The closure order was granted at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court following an investigation by the local neighbourhood policing team and Cornwall Council’s antisocial behaviour caseworker.
