Details have been announced for this year’s Newquay at Christmas light switch on, which will take place later this month and mark the start of the festive season in Newquay.
Boardmasters has stepped in as the sponsor of the town’s Christmas tree for 2025, which will form the centrepiece of the celebrations on the Killacourt.
The lights will be switched on on Friday 28 November, kicking off a full weekend of free entertainment, live music, and a covered Christmas market. The opening night will feature a performance on the main bandstand stage from Wicked versus Ariana, a tribute inspired by the second part of the musical film which is released at cinemas this month, along with carol singing from Oll an Gwella and an appearance by Bubbles the Pixie at 5.40pm.
At around 6.30pm, Radio Newquay will join Mayor Drew Creek to lead the countdown to the light switch-on, followed by a spectacular fireworks display and an “amazing” Taylor Swift tribute show from Forever Taylor, featuring many of her biggest hits.
The celebrations continue throughout the weekend, with live music, workshops, and plenty of festive activities taking over the Killacourt. On Saturday 29 November, the Christmas market will open at 10am, alongside a wreath-making workshop in the morning. The day’s entertainment will include performances by Lowrie & Mark, Joe Hurworth, The Newqs, Bow River, and Josh Curnow, with live music running from lunchtime into the evening.
On Sunday 30 November, families can enjoy a range of festive fun in the entertainment area. There will be a giant snow globe photo opportunity, children’s art workshops, and Christmas storytelling from Café Petite. Visitors may also get the chance to meet the reindeers, with details to be confirmed closer to the date. The weekend will round off with a children’s Christmas disco before the entertainment area and bar close at 5.30pm.
The three-day event will once again transform Newquay into a festive hub, with organisers promising something for everyone, from live performances and creative workshops to family fun and Christmas cheer.
