The Trencreek level crossing will be permanently closed to through traffic from 15 May. Signs have gone up informing motorists of the change.
The nearby Chapel level crossing has already been closed to vehicles, though it remains open to pedestrians.
A spokesperson for Network Rail told Radio Newquay:
"The work needed to close Trencreek is taking place overnight on 15 May, so that there is no disruption to trains. From 15 May, the crossing will be closed to traffic but remain open to pedestrians. Both crossings are essentially being changed from level crossings to foot crossings only."
In September, Radio Newquay reported how motor vehicles could be stopped from using the crossing to allow for improvements to the Newquay rail line, as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project. Work would not take place until the Newquay Strategic Route had opened.
A consultation carried out at the time by Cormac sought views on the proposals, which included providing turning areas for delivery and refuse vehicles accessing properties along Trencreek Road.
Similar restrictions were proposed for Chapel, with the addition of a new turning head at the farm/field entrance on the south side of the level crossing.
The Newquay Strategic Route opened earlier this week and is now part of the A3059, linking Hendra with St Columb and Trevenson Road. The final section provides a new route between the south and east of the town and includes a new bridge over the Newquay to Par railway line.
