Members of Holywell Bay Surf Lifesaving Club stepped in to help a man who suffered a back injury after falling onto rocks.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening (20 May) as the club was wrapping up a training session. Members were alerted to the injury, which involved a young male who the club says fell while attempting gymnastics.
Emergency services were called to the scene, including Newquay Coastguard and paramedics. The casualty was stabilised and transported across the beach by 4x4 before being taken to hospital.
The club has thanked its members, along with the Coastguard and ambulance crews, for their "swift and professional response."
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said:
“We were called at 21:38hrs on Tuesday 20 May to an incident in Holywell. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance and a first responder to the scene. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Treliske Hospital.”
