Newquay's much-loved Lantern Parade is moving to a new home this year at Trenance Cottages.
The cottages and gardens will be lit up in style on Friday, 22nd November, as part of the 'Trenance Trees and Tales' event, featuring the parade and a Christmas lights switch-on.
This enchanting event is part of the BeNewquay Festival and promises a night of festive cheer, carol performances, storytelling, and vibrant light displays in the heart of Trenance. The parade will set off from Trenance Car Park at 5:30 pm, with hundreds of schoolchildren and community members carrying handmade lanterns to illuminate the way.
In the lead-up, Blystra Arts will host drop-in workshops, including a Jar Lantern & Autumn Craft session on Saturday, 2nd November, from 10 am to 3 pm at the Killacourt, and a Willow Lantern Making workshop on Saturday, 16th November, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm at Trenance Heritage Cottages & The Garden Café. These sessions invite residents to create autumn crafts and lanterns to bring to the parade.
Trenance Trees and Tales is part of the Be Newquay Festival, a season of events, activities, and workshops celebrating Newquay’s culture and creative spirit. Taking place at venues across the town each weekend in November, many of the festival's events are free, ensuring accessibility for all community members.
