Newquay will officially launch its festive season this evening as the town’s Christmas lights are switched on at the Killacourt.
Boardmasters is sponsoring the town’s Christmas tree for 2025, as it moves to the Killacourt for a three-day celebration featuring live music, family activities and a covered Christmas market throughout the weekend.
Festivities begin at 3pm in the market area, followed by carols from Oll an Gwella. Entertainment on the bandstand main stage starts at 4.30pm, including a performance by Wicked Live, the ultimate Wicked: The Musical tribute. It will be followed by Bubbles the Pixie with a spectacular bubble show.
At around 6.30pm, Radio Newquay will join Mayor Drew Creek on stage to lead the countdown to the lights switch-on, followed by fireworks over the bay. The evening will round off with a Taylor Swift tribute show from Forever Taylor.
The celebrations continue on Saturday, with the Christmas market opening at 10am and a wreath-making workshop in the morning. Live music throughout the day will feature performers including Lowrie & Mark, Joe Hurworth, The Newqs, Bow River and Josh Curnow.
Sunday offers more family activities, including a giant snow globe photo opportunity, children’s art workshops and Christmas storytelling from Café Petite. A children’s Christmas disco will bring the weekend to a close before the site shuts at 5.30pm.
Organisers say the three-day event aims to bring the community together with a mix of live performances, creative workshops and festive entertainment across the Killacourt.
