Cornwall Pride organisers have announced that tomorrow's Newquay Pride has been postponed.
In a post to followers, they said: "Sorry tomorrow’s weather has other plans. With winds gusting over 40mph, gazebos turning into kites, and heavy rain rolling in, the call has to be safety first. As much as we’d love to dance through a storm, Pride is about putting people and safety first."
They stressed the event is not cancelled and that a new date will be announced.
A spokesperson added: "Pride isn’t a one-day thing, it’s who we are, and we’ll bring it back bigger, brighter, and just as unapologetically fabulous when it’s safe to do so. Thank you for understanding, thank you to everyone who’s poured their heart into making this happen, and thank you Newquay for always showing up with love. Keep your sequins dry, keep your flags ready, we’ll see you very soon."
The weekend weather has also put paid to the Women's County Gig Championships. In a statement, Newquay Rowing Club said the event had been postponed to the 27th and 28th of September because of the "unfavourable weather" forecast.
