The Newquay Harbour Festival, makes its return with cooking demonstrations, live music and a packed schedule of family friendly workshops.
Taking place on Saturday (7th), the festival is organised by The Boathouse, Newquay BID, Cornwall Shop Small, and Newquay Farmers Market.
The Harbour Market, part of the BIG Newquay Market, showcasing Cornish produce and crafts, is on from 10 am to 4 pm. The market will span across the Harbour, Bank Street, and the Killacourt, offering visitors a chance to explore a wide array of local goods and artisanal products.
Art enthusiasts can enjoy the ‘Pages of the Sea’ flag installation, designed by City of Lights and displayed on the beach from 10 am to 5 pm. Additionally, the festival encourages community involvement with a beach clean at the harbour from 10 am to 12 pm.
Families will find plenty of activities to enjoy, including a free withy fish-making workshop led by City of Lights artists. Running from 10 am to 4 pm, this workshop offers a creative experience for children and adults alike. Visitors can also learn about marine life from the Padstow Lobster Hatchery, with a live lobster release planned during the day.
Music lovers will be treated to live performances at The Boathouse, starting at midday and continuing until 9 pm. The Clams will open the show, followed by acts such as Tom Cary, Will Powell, and the Harbour Rats Shanty Band. The Newquay Rowing Club Singers and the Charlie Wolf Jazz Trio will also take to the stage.
Food and drink are central to the festival, with cooking demonstrations from top Cornish chefs, including Guy Owen, Gavin Edney, and Adam Banks, starting at 1 pm in the Rattler Marquee. As the evening progresses, festival-goers can take part in a gin flavouring workshop with Tarquin’s Gin and Navas Drinks, followed by a free wine tasting session from 7:30 pm.
