Newquay Foodbank says it is busier than ever, after helping over 1,900 adults and more than 660 children between July and the beginning of October.
Each of its sessions across the town supports around 40 visitors, distributing roughly 700 kilos of food each time. Sessions at St Michael’s Church have been among the busiest.
The charity, which was founded in 2011 to support people in financial hardship, provides food and essential items while working with other agencies to help residents back to financial independence.
It is now appealing for more volunteers to help meet demand in the run-up to Christmas and cope with extra seasonal pressure.
Newquay Foodbank operates as part of the Trussell Trust network, with sessions held at St Michael’s Church in Newquay, St Columb Minor, and St Columb Major.
