The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Sunday, with Kernow Weather Team (KWT) also advising that heavy rain and strong winds could cause disruption in Cornwall.
KWT weatherman Dave Clark explained: "A deep area of low pressure is currently out in the Atlantic Ocean and is looking to make its way towards Cornwall for Sunday. The current weather models using GFS and ECMWF both agree for once! But there is still time for this weather depression to move slightly."
He added that Newquay could see gale-force winds on Sunday, with gusts potentially reaching 40-60 mph from a mild southeasterly direction. "The strong winds are looking to continue into Monday morning when they go back to a northwesterly or westerly direction."
Clark also pointed to potential risks for coastal activities, stating: "Looking at Oceanic Wave - ocean data, there could be some large swells and waves around the Cornwall coast too, so please take extra care if you're out surfing or any other ocean activities."
KWT's sister site, Oceanic Wave, provides weather data for both land and sea, offering AI voice updates for coastal areas.
