A new one-day festival, "It Is What It Is," will take place in Newquay this weekend to raise money for mental health and addiction charities.
The event, at Great Western Beach, is organised by two friends in memory of Chaz, a local man who tragically passed away earlier this year after battling mental health issues. Lucy Cole, Chaz's sister, says the name of the day is significant. PRESS PLAY below to listen to our special report.
The festival aims to support Man Down Cornwall and We Are With You. Attendees can expect a full day of creative workshops, community activities, and opportunities, including terrarium making, pottery classes, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and line dancing. Some sessions will be free, while others will have a small charge, with all proceeds going towards the charities. Dog agility, tarot readings, and circus workshops also feature on the line up which promises something for everyone.
The festival kicks off at noon on Saturday at Great Western Beach, with the celebrations continuing into the evening at The Sink Inn. From 8 PM, attendees can enjoy music from DJ Easy Jet and Unkle Funk, with raffle prizes up for grabs.
For more details, visit the Freetime Guide. Buy tokens for workshops here.
All proceeds from the event will support the vital work of Man Down Cornwall and We Are With You, helping those affected by mental health and addiction challenges.
