The funeral of a much loved Newquay man, known to many simply as 'Clive' – will take place next week.
The service will be held at 9am at Truro Crematorium, in the Chapel on Monday 23rd June. However, mourners are being advised that the chapel has limited capacity, with space for just 50 attendees. Organisers have warned that "if you attend you might have to stand outside of the chapel."
Clive, who was 61, was a well known and friendly presence in Newquay town centre for many years and was easily recognised by his tattooed face. News of his passing earlier this month prompted an outpouring of grief and tributes from the local community.
Flowers and messages have been left in Bank Street, where many knew and regularly saw him.
Jason Tuck from Crescent Care Home in Newquay said a public remembrance gathering is being planned to give the wider community a chance to come together in his memory.
“To celebrate Clive’s life and allow the wider community to come together, we’re holding a remembrance gathering on Sunday 29th from 13:00 to 15:00 at Killacourt,” he said.
“People are invited to take a picnic, chat with someone you haven’t met before, and help spread some joy - just like Clive did every day. We’re hoping a few of the town’s buskers will join us to add to the spirit of the afternoon.”
