The first images have been released showing how the revamped Trenance Play Park could look.
Three suppliers have been shortlisted to build the new £152,000 facility, which will replace the existing, well-used park at Trenance. Funding comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), made up of levies on property developers across Cornwall.
A new consultation has been launched by Cornwall Council, allowing residents to have their say on the proposed designs. The survey, available on the Let’s Talk Cornwall website, asks respondents to rate the designs in order of preference.
The proposed designs include a range of equipment for all ages. One features a pirate ship, an accessible picnic area, junior and toddler areas, and a relocated hill slide. Another boasts a four-metre-high space net and a 25-metre cableway with a take-off platform. The third design includes a junior area, a Net Tower with a Bannister Slide, and a zip wire.
The consultation runs until Sunday, 13 October online. Residents will also be able to view the plans and provide feedback at Newquay Library from Monday, 23 September.
Cornwall Councillor - Louis Gardner, who is also the Cabinet member for the Economy, hopes work will start after the October half-term, with the park ready to open to the public by spring 2025.
"It's not just about replacing the play park like-for-like. We're hoping to drastically improve it. One of the key things we've focused on is making the surface weatherproof all year round - an all-season surface so that the play park can be enjoyed by everyone, whatever the weather," he said.
