A new event in Newquay aims to showcase career opportunities and inspire the town’s future entrepreneurs.
Empowering Newquay’s Future is described as an "Inspiring Career Event for Young People and the Community," bringing together local businesses and organisations to connect with the next generation. Organiser Liz Wright, a parent and town councillor, hopes to challenge the idea that young people need to leave Newquay to build successful careers.
Taking place at Newquay Community Orchard on Friday (16th of May), the event will offer an interactive and dynamic experience designed to help students and the wider community explore career paths, local industries, and self-employment opportunities.
Running from 11:00am to 4:30pm, it will be split into two sessions. From 11:00am to 3:00pm, students from Treviglas Academy and Newquay Tretherras School will take part in hands-on workshops, activities, and demonstrations led by local employers. From 3:00pm, the doors will be opened to the public - offering the chance to discover career opportunities available in their community.
Unlike traditional careers fairs, Empowering Newquay’s Future will focus on engagement, with businesses and self-employed individuals showcasing their industries through interactive activities.
“We’re thrilled to host this one-of-a-kind event in Newquay,” said Liz Wright, Town Councillor for Porth and Tretherras. “This is more than a careers fair - it’s a chance for local businesses and self-employed individuals to connect with young people in meaningful ways, help shape the future entrepreneurs of our community, and showcase what Newquay has to offer.”
