Investigations are underway after a fire at the derelict Narrowcliff Hotel in Newquay on Sunday.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 3:20am, with flames visible for miles. At its height, engines from stations across Cornwall, including Newquay, Perranporth, St Dennis and Mevagissey were joined by aerial platforms from Truro and Newquay.

Local roads reopened just after 1pm on Sunday lunchtime.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue said in an update: "Fire Service remain on scene with one Aerial Ladder Platform and one Major appliance from Newquay. A fire investigation is to be conducted following this incident."

A neighbouring building, which is earmarked for the same redevelopment scheme, was the scene of a previous fatal fire in July.
