Members of Crantock Surf Life Saving Club sprang into action on Sunday evening to rescue a dog caught in the spring high tide at the Gannel estuary.
The dog, a collie named Saffy, had been enjoying a swim when she jumped into the water from a property on the Pentire side. However Saffy found herself struggling and began drifting down the estuary.
Beach patrol members from Crantock Surf Life Saving Club quickly entered the water to pull the "exhausted" dog to safety. The team dried Saffy off, calmed her down, and ensured she was well taken care of.
Her owners were alerted and arrived on paddleboards to collect her and reunite with Saffy.
The club has praised Karen, a new patrol member, for her quick and effective response in helping with the rescue.
Crantock Surf Life Saving Club’s efforts ensured a happy ending for Saffy, with the dog safely back in her owners' arms.
