A charity rugby match will take place this weekend in memory of a Newquay Hornets player.
Max Cowell, who served with the Royal Navy, passed away five years ago aged 23. He had played for the Newquay Hornets since the age of six.
On Saturday 30 August, the Hornets will host the match to raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
His mum, Sharon, said:
“Come along, show your support, and help us celebrate Max’s life while raising vital funds for an incredible cause. Last year was a great day with an amazing community spirit.”
The inaugural event raised more than £3,500 for the charity. That match featured a representative side made up of former Hornets players, Navy players and others who knew Max.
Kick-off is at 2:30pm at Newquay Sports Centre.
There will also be raffle prizes, a bar and live music.
