The Nansledan Arts Festival draws to a close this weekend, but there’s still a packed line up of events to enjoy before the curtain falls.
On Sunday morning, visitors can hear from award-winning Newquay artist Diane Griffiths, who recently picked up The People’s Choice Award 2024. Her short talk – “Beyond the Prize: Insights into Winning an Art Award” – charts her journey from entering the competition through to exhibiting in London and being featured in Artists & Illustrators magazine. She’ll share practical tips on submitting to art competitions, explain why rejection isn’t personal, and offer a behind-the-scenes look at what winning an award really means.
In the afternoon, creativity continues with a Carnival Sea Creature Workshop. People of all ages are invited to bring old umbrellas and plastic bottles to transform into recycled jellyfish and other sea-themed creations - ready to parade at Newquay Carnival on 5 July.
Sunday 15 June, 2.30–6.30pm, also at Nansledan School
No booking is needed – just drop in and get making.
