A man from Newquay is among two people arrested following a serious assault in Penryn.
Police were called at 3.45pm on Tuesday 15 July following a report of two men attacking a man and a woman in Lower Market Street, Penryn, armed with poles and a taser.
Officers attended and located the two victims with various facial and head injuries. They were taken to hospital but have both since been discharged.
Armed officers attended an address in Penryn and arrested a man in his 30s from Penryn and a man in his 40s from Newquay on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Both suspects remain in police custody at this time.
Detective Constable Richard Haycock said: “This was a violent assault using weapons that took place in broad daylight in front of people who were going about their day-to-day business.
“It is believed the victims and the suspects were known to each other and as such, there is no wider threat to the public.
“That said, this was a vicious attack and we are appealing to anybody who may witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to us, to get in touch. We would also like to hear from anybody who may have filmed it on either their phones or on their dash-cam as they drove by.”
