A community-led project is appealing for people to support its £50,000 fundraiser to transform a corner of Newquay town centre.
The fundraising campaign on the Crowdfunder website is being organised by Crantock Street Garden's volunteer team, who have brought in award-winning landscape designer Kim Parish to oversee the ambitious redevelopment of the space into an accessible, vibrant and inclusive space for residents and visitors.
Supporters are being encouraged to sponsor individual plants as part of the campaign, and a bid has also been submitted for £100,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy funding to help bring the plans to life.
The new design will feature accessible paths with resin flooring, easy-maintenance planting in a striking red and orange palette to reflect the site’s history as the old fire station, and a fire crest made from reused materials.
Prize Draw to Support the Garden
As part of the fundraising effort, the team is holding their annual prize draw at the Big Lunch event on Saturday, 14 June, from 12pm to 3pm. Tickets are £5 each, with all proceeds supporting the redevelopment.
Five highlight prizes include:
-
Private surf lesson with Escape Surf School’s head coach and former world champion Mike Young (worth £100)

Two £50 bouquets from Home Nansledan
-
Breakfast and coffee for two at Project 83

-

Tickets can be purchased online via the Crowdfunder campaign or on the day of the Big Lunch, where the winners will be drawn.
