Police appeal after assault on child in Goonhavern Park

Police are appealing for witnesses after a child was reportedly assaulted in a park in Goonhavern.

Officers say the incident happened at the play area on Bridge Road between 10.30am and 10.45am on Sunday 8 June. It was reported a male suspect swore at a child before pinning him down by the neck. When challenged, the man reportedly said he was "restraining the child".

The suspect and the child then left the area together in a red vehicle. Neither has been identified at this stage.

The victim is believed to be around eight years old.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage is asked to contact police on 101 or via the website, quoting reference 50250144837.
