Newquay Minor Injury Unit temporarily closed

Newquay’s Minor Injury Unit has temporarily closed because of staff sickness and other workforce pressures.

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said it had taken the “difficult decision” because it could not safely operate the unit.

The trust said it was managing sickness absence, staff changes and ongoing recruitment.

The rest of Newquay Community Hospital remains open as normal.

Plans are being put in place to reopen the Minor Injury Unit from Thursday 27 August, when it is expected to return to its summer opening hours.

Those hours are 8am to 6pm from Thursdays to Tuesdays. A further update is expected this week.

The trust said: “We know the local community rely on the unit for urgent care and we are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Other minor injury units are available in St Austell, Bodmin and Camborne Redruth.

Patients can check live opening and waiting times on the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust website.
