New Mount Wise Gardens play park officially opens this week

Newquay's newest play park is being officially opened this week.

Residents and visitors are being invited to the opening event at Mount Wise Gardens between 12pm and 2pm on Wednesday 2 September.

The new park has been built over the summer by playground specialist Wicksteed, following consultation with the community.

Newquay Town Council said it features modern, accessible and inclusive equipment designed to provide play opportunities for children of different ages and abilities.

Mayor of Newquay Drew Creek will officially open the park, with free refreshments available during the event.

Work began in May as part of a wider regeneration scheme for Mount Wise Gardens.

The project includes a £150,000 investment in the play park, funded by Boardmasters and Community Infrastructure Levy contributions from developers.

Councillor Creek previously described the facility as “an investment in our children’s futures”.

He said the development would create the first central play park within easy walking distance of Newquay town centre.
