A man has been arrested following reports of a male in possession of an axe in Newquay.
Devon and Cornwall Police say officers were called to a property on Lewarne Road at around 1.15pm on Thursday 9 April, following reports of a man causing criminal damage while carrying an axe.
It was further reported that the man had left the scene before police arrived.
Units, including armed officers, attended and later located a man at Cornwall Services.
A 44-year-old man from Newquay was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, theft and drink-driving.
He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
