England’s top longboard and SUP surfers heading to Watergate Bay

Some of England’s top surfers will compete at Watergate Bay this weekend as the 2026 Dryrobe Longboard and SUP Championships return to Newquay.

The national competition takes place from Saturday 5 September, with surfers travelling from across England to compete in longboard and stand-up paddleboard disciplines.

The championships will feature Under-18, Open and Women’s Longboard divisions, alongside Open and Women’s SUP competitions.

Organisers Surfing England say a good swell is expected to arrive in Cornwall ahead of the event, with spectators being encouraged to head to Watergate Bay to watch the competition.

The event will operate under International Surfing Association rules, including priority rules.

Safety and first aid support will be provided on site by Era Adventures.

Surfing England said: “We have a great swell heading into Cornwall this week, so expect lots of action and camaraderie from our seasoned competitors.”

The championships are supported by headline event sponsor the Caravan and Motorhome Club, with Dryrobe and Kukuna providing prizes for podium finishers.

People unable to attend will be able to follow heat updates and highlights through Surfing England’s social media channels.
