Casualty cut off by tide rescued near Boardmasters site

A casualty cut off by the tide near the Boardmasters site has been rescued and taken to safety at Newquay Harbour.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and Newquay RNLI lifeboats were called at 12.57am on Monday following reports of someone stranded near Horse Rock, between Watergate Bay and Whipsiderry.

Padstow Coastguard, Padstow Lifeboat and Newquay Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 were also sent to assist.

After locating the casualty, coastguard volunteers began preparing for a technical rope rescue while a lifeboat crew member went ashore to reach them.

The casualty was assessed for injuries before being taken aboard the lifeboat and brought to safety at Newquay Harbour. All rescue teams were then stood down.

Newquay Coastguard is reminding people to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if they see someone in difficulty around the coast.
