Dr Steven Sawkins is a Veterinary Surgeon with over 20 years' experience of being in Veterinary Practice. He had his own thriving practice in Bristol but moved to Cornwall to be closer to his wife’s family from the Isles of Scilly. He and his wife have four young children and many animals.

Arriving in Newquay in 2014 many people suggested starting a new practice... and here it is! Our aim is to provide a very good service at an affordable price for local pet owners.

NewquayVet is an “independent” practice. We are not owned by a corporate group that might give us financial targets to reach or influence us as to what treatments to give or what medicines to use. We aim to be a friendly approachable veterinary practice.

We aim to provide a very good veterinary service at an affordable price for local pet owners. We realise that owners want to do the best for their pets but may be on a limited budget.

Pets need worming, vaccinations and regular flea treatments and it may be prohibitive to be hit with all these costs in one go, so we shall shortly be starting a Pet Health Plan to both reduce the overall cost and split everything into a regular smaller monthly payment.

Unexpected illness and accident injury can be covered by taking out pet insurance or by saving an amount in a bank account each month.
