An event raising funds in support of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
This year’s concert and ceremony in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal will be held in St Michael’s Church at 7.00pm on Friday, 6th November. As in recent years the first part of the evening will be a remembrance concert with performances from Newquay Band, Newquay Male Voice Choir, Oll an Gwella and the RAF St Mawgan Military Wives Choir. There will also be solo performances from Gareth Horner and Billy Mander. Adding his own contribution to proceedings will be Nigel Warner on the bagpipes.
The mood becomes much more solemn in the second half of the evening when a traditional Remembrance ceremony is held. This includes both the Vow and the Kohima Epitaph as well as a 2 minute silence and the Last Post and Reveille played by Steve Fryett. As has become traditional, Nigel Warmington will pipe in the RBL standard. The evening concludes with the congregational singing of Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem, led by Newquay Band.
Admission will be £5 and there will be a raffle and a retiring collection to boost the fund raising for the RBL Poppy Appeal.
