Kick back and enjoy a selection of motivating forest themed films followed by filmmaker Q&A sessions and engaging on stage chats with rainforest conservationists, explorers and tree climbers.

The event will be hosted by Ross Vernon McDonald, who welcomes you along for the home town premier of his film, LAMO AURU – Old Forest, New Lines. An adventure documentary that tells the story of three British professional rock climbers who travel to the rainforest of Papua New Guinea to find and climb some of the world’s tallest and strangest trees. However their climbing goals quickly become secondary to the plight of the indigenous people who are trying to protect their very special forest from corrupt politics and illegal natural resource extraction.

Ross is a film maker who believes film is one of our most powerful tools for positive change in human and environmental welfare. Making films and sharing their messages with our communities is important and is a great step towards inspiration. Once people are inspired to explore the natural world they fall in love with it, and then they protect it.

The film he’s made, LAMO AURU - Old Forest, New Lines, seems to help people join the dots with their own connection to trees. Trees are our green best friends and protecting them is one of the simplest ways to combat and dramatically slow the curve of climate change.
