Sunday, September 15th
Trenance Cottages Newquay will be bringing stories from the past to life through a captivating outdoor performance. The re-enactment will give visitors a unique glimpse into the lives of past residents and unlock secrets and stories of bygone times.
Trenance Cottages Newquay will be opening the doors of the heritage museum and bringing stories from the past to life through a captivating outdoor performance. The re-enactment will offer visitors a unique glimpse into the lives of past residents whilst sharing the secrets of Mary Isabelle Pearce, a former resident of Vine Cottage!
For one day only, an exclusive 20-minute re-enactment, performed outside the cottages, in full costume will give visitors an insight into the life of Mary, who developed a special friendship with a young evacuee, Mavis Hagger, during the 1940s. ‘Auntie Mary’ will be played by the actress Katie Kirk, who will be returning to Trenance Cottages for a second time, after helping the charity, Trenance Cottages Newquay, win a Cornwall Heritage Award for ‘Best Project on a Budget’ in 2017.
Mrs Kirk will be performing three times during the Heritage Open Day. Performances will start at 10.30 am, 11.30 am and 2pm. The event is FREE, and no booking is required, just turn up and enjoy our heritage museum whilst catching a live performance.
