Trewoon Community Fundraising will be holding a charity weekend of craft fairs, in aid of Children’s Hospice South West on the first weekend in December. These will be at Tregony village hall on Saturday 4th December, from 11am to 4pm, and at Trewoon village hall on Sunday 5th December, also from 11am to 4pm.*
We have some amazing talented crafters lined up, with over 20 stalls at each fair selling a wide variety of lovingly handmade items. At the Trewoon fair we will have a couple of local Trewoonites: Ian Soper, who makes fabulous slate creations to adorn your house or garden, and Ruth from R F knits who crochets and knits soft toys. Another local, Nancy Barkwill, who lives just outside the village, will be showcasing her beautiful reading cushions and hand-clothed teddy bears amongst other things.
Other stallholders include ‘Scented Body and Home’, supplying vegan-friendly soaps, bath products and reed diffusers for the home, ‘Crafty Susan’, making Cornish tartan items, handmade cards, keyrings and wooden cottages, Cerwyn Brown, a fused-glass artist from Tregony who will have a stall at her local fair, and ‘Handmade by Heather in Cornwall’, one of our regular attendees who prints Cornish themed T-shirts, along with other handcrafted gifts. Another stall is even offering to preserve your pet’s ashes in their rainbow fused glass memorial items.
All in all, there will be plenty of perfect gifts for anyone seeking Christmas or Birthday presents for loved ones or friends, and we’ve even got someone making natural treats for your 4-legged companions.
There will be a prize raffle held at each of the fairs, and refreshments will be available on the day, including some delicious home-made cakes baked by our children, Alex and Hannah, who have been actively involved in all our fundraising efforts. As members of Trewoon Community Fundraising, they have helped with the fundraising for local charities and causes throughout this year, with over £4000 raised for a variety of good causes so far. Since the summer the fundraising efforts have been to support Children’s Hospice SW in their 30 years’ celebrations, with £2000 raised to date.
We thought that it would be lovely to hold a weekend of Craft Fairs in the run up to Christmas, to help benefit the families and children who will have need of the hospices over this period. Both adult and children’s hospices are charities. They are not Government funded and they rely on fundraising and the generosity of the general public in order to keep their vital services going. Charities have been hit really hard during this pandemic, being unable to fundraise at times and, with the population having to tighten their purse strings, they are finding that people are unable to donate as much as in previous years.
For more information about Trewoon Community Fundraising, please visit our Facebook page. In addition to holding events we also accept donations of good condition items to sell - either via Facebook or in our pop-up charity tent located in our garden at Hillside, Stoney Hill, Trewoon.
